Meet the Typo’s Archnemesis

June 8, 2011

Betsy LarsonIt’s not always easy finding the right word for a headline—but Copywriter Betsy Larson prefers it to detasseling corn, the hardest job she says she’s ever had.

If we’re being really honest, Betsy’s a city girl despite her rural upbringing. She grew up on an acreage near Hartford, S.D., where she pulled snakes out of holes, swam in cow tanks (not the ones the cows were using, mind you) and bottle fed bulls. But she knew since she was age 8 that she was going to be a writer, and it was confirmed in high school when she spent a good chunk of time proofreading her friends’ papers.

It wasn’t too long before Betsy could no longer resist the city’s bright lights. While attending Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, she was an editorial intern at “Today’s Chicago Woman.” (That’s in Chicago, if the name didn’t tip you off.) After college graduation, Betsy moved to Sioux Falls, where she’s been a writer, editor and all-around big deal.

Betsy has the one-two punch of being an excellent writer and an awesome project manager—a combination that’s even more appealing than homemade dessert paired with a coffee. Which, by the way, is what Betsy likes to serve her friends when they’re hanging out. Proofreading, organizing, cooking, serving coffee … did we mention that Betsy’s a good friend to have? Yeah, you should get to know her.
