Meat & Greet

July 6, 2011

We finally got around to celebrating summer by gathering in the Pomp Room for a satisfying and delicious barbecue—the fifth annual HenkinSchultz summer barbecue and potluck, to be precise. And it turns out the food was almost as good as the company we keep.

hamburgerThe thermometer read 78 degrees, but Joe Henkin claims it was the hottest day of the year. We’re not going to argue too hard—he did brave standing over the hot grill to serve up some mighty fine burgers and brats for the whole staff. Sure, the smell of that meat and the prospect of summer salads drew us down to the Pomp Room, but what really gets us is the desserts. Chocolate chip cookie bars? Cherry angel food cake? Fruit and brownie kabobs drizzled with chocolate? Yes, please.

The fun we have during our office lunches together builds camaraderie in a way that just can’t be replicated while we’re sitting at our desks. And it’s that laughter and conversation that keep us going long after the food coma has worn off. Even when the food is really, really good.
